MIXED PRINTS TREND

This year, the spring-summer season has surprised me a lot, not only because of the variety of colors, but also because of the diversity of trends we have been able to see. One of those trends is using two or more different prints on the same outfit. 

Gone are the days when making these types of combinations were considered of bad taste. Now, while combining prints might be in fashion, it's also true that we must be very careful when we do this. We can't just randomly combine prints.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when combining prints:

• Both garments with different prints should have a common color in order for both to mix perfectly
• There are cases when you can combine prints that don't have a common color, but you have to make sure both colors create a certain level of contrast.
• You can mix prints not only on garments, but on accessories as well, such as bags, scarves or shoes, always taking into consideration the two tips mentioned before. (Look at outfit #2 and Elizabeth Olsen outfit)
• Stripes and flowers are excellent allies when creating a mixed print. You can use a striped white and navy blue top combined with a floral print skirt which has some level of blue. (Look at outfit "1 and Dash Zhukova outfit)
• Another great option is to combine fabrics such as crochet or lace with printed fabrics. This will enable you to wear more accessories on this trend. (Look at outfit #4 and Olivia Palermo outfit)

Este año, la temporada primavera-verano me ha sorprendido muchísimo, no solo por que está siendo muy colorida, sino también por la diversidad de tendencias que hemos podido ver. Una de esas tendencias es usar dos o más estampados diferentes en un solo outfit.

Atrás quedaron los tiempos en los que hacer estas combinaciones era sinónimo de mal gusto. Claro, pero si bien es cierto que combinar estampados está de moda, también es cierto que debemos de  tener mucho cuidado al momento de hacerlo, ya que tampoco significa que vamos a mezclar estampados al azar.

Algunas de las reglas a tomar en cuenta al momento de mezclar estampados son las siguientes:

• Las dos prendas con estampados diferentes que decidas usar deben de llevar un color en común, esto hará que ambos estampados encajen perfectamente.
• Puedes combinar estampados que no tengan un color en común, pero al menos dos colores entre ellos deben de contrastar. 
• La mezcla de prints no solamente se pueden usar en prendas, sino que también en accesorios como carteras, bufandas o zapatos, siempre tomando en cuenta las dos reglas anteriores. (Ver outfit #2 y outfit de Elizabeth Olsen)
• Las rayas y las flores son excelentes aliados para crear el mixed print, usa un top rayado blanco y azul marino y una falda de flores en la que lleve en el estampado tonos en azul.  ( Ver outfit #1 y outfit de Dash Zhukova).
• Otra excelente opción es combinar telas con estampados bordados tal como el crochet o el encaje con tela de estampados. Esto da luz verde a poder usar más accesorios en este trend. (Ver outfit #4 y outfit de Olivia Palermo) 

NEON SKIRT

As we have been able to see, this season is full of colors. Amongst these are neon color. I think these colors definitely can bring an outfit to life, whether it's used on the clothes or on accessories.

On this opportunity I'm wearing a neon colored skirt and to neutralize this color, I combined it with black shirt, bag and shoes. As for accessories, I'm wearing a multicolor necklace to create contrast with the neon color. Black combined with neon will always help neutralize the brightness of the neon color. It's also a perfect combination if you decide to wear the neon trend on more formal occasions.

Como ya hemos podido ver, esta temporada está llena de colores, entre ellos los neón. Me parece que son colores que definitivamente le dan vida a un outfit, ya sea si los decides usar en ropa o accesorios. 

  Esta vez estoy usando neón pero en la falda, y para neutralizar el color de la falda, la combiné con camisa, cartera y zapatos negros. En cuanto a accesorios, estoy usando un collar de colores para crear contraste con el neón de la falda. El negro combinado con el neón,  ayuda a neutralizar el brillo del neón y también esta combinación es perfecta por si decides usar la tendencia del neón en ocasiones más formales.
 

BOOST THOSE CLOUDS WITH YELLOW

For those of you who are following on Pinterest you can check up how yellow is popping out my boards. Yellow is a color that leads fall and gives a farewell to spring

Yellow typically stands for a state of happiness and enlightenment. It breathes inspiration and fashion. So, when you fear the darkness of winter taking over, you can spread the sunshine by throwing on a fancy yellow. I want to share with you some items like bags, dresses, shoes etc, that just bring that color pop.

He venido posteando de tendencias como la blusa transparente, naturaleza, jeans y otras. Me gusta seguir la inspiración. Para aquellos que me están siguiendo en Pinterest pueden notar como el amarillo esta haciendo sus pop de color es mis tablas. Amarillo es el color que lidera el otoño y despide la primavera.

El amarillo típicamente da un estado de alegría y brillo, respira inspiración y moda. Así que cuando temas de los días obscuros sin sol, puedes repartir rayos de sol deslumbrando con un amarillo. Así que quiero compartir algunas prendas como carteras, zapatos, vestidos etc que dan ese pop y no tiene que ser rojo!

PASTEL COLOR BLOCK

I could have never imagined that two pastel colors could combine so greatly between them. Now that I've seen this combination everywhere (magazines, blogs, streetstyle, etc.), I got inspired and decided to wear an outfit mixing two pastel colors and using two great trends: pastel colors and colorblock.

The combination between mint and purples looks very sweet. In this outfit I chose mint-colored pants and a lilac purple shirt, along with accessories in these two colors: J. Crew necklace and ring in mint color and lilac nails. And since the accessories have several gold tones, I added Steve Madden golden glitter flats, to create a contrast with the gold on the accessories.

Antes, jamás me hubiera podido imaginar que dos colores pasteles podrían combinar tan bien entre sí. Ahora que he visto esta combinación por todos lados (revistas, blogs, streetstyle, etc), me inspiré y decidí usar un outfit mezclando dos colores pastel y usando también dos grandes tendencias (o tres tendencias por el mint del pantalón): los colores pastel y el colorblock.

La combinación entre el menta y el morado se me hace que se ve super tierna, así que en este outfit estoy combinado un pantalón menta, con una camisa morado lila, así como accesorios en esos dos colores: collar J. Crew y anillo en color menta y uñas lila . Y como los accesorios llevan tonos en dorado, agregué al outfit unos flats de glitter de Steve Madden, para que contrastaran con el dorado de los accesorios.

A SPECIAL DAY

Time flies and I can't believe today my husband an I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary.  So I wanted to make a special post to celebrate, sharing some of our memories and favorite moments from our first year as husband and wife with all of you.

It has been an incredible year next to the greatest man in the world. Guille is such an important part of my life and feel so blessed to have someone beside me like him, who makes me feel special in each and every moment and makes every day unforgettable.

He's also a key part of this blog, as he takes the pictures and helps me and Maria Jose when we run into technical problems.

El tiempo pasa volando y no puedo creer que ahora mi esposo (Guille) y yo estamos celebrando nuestro primer año de casados.  Por lo que quise hacer un post especial para celebrarlo con ustedes también, compartiéndoles recuerdos de aquel día tan maravilloso, así como recuerdos de momentos que hemos vivivido en nuestro primer año como esposos.
Ha sido un año increíble junto al hombre más lindo del mundo. Guille es una parte importantísima de mi vida, y me siento sumamente bendecida de tener un esposo como él, me hace sentir especial en cada momento y cada día lo hace inolvidable.

En el blog es una pieza clave ya que es el que me toma las fotos y nos ayuda a mí y a Maria Jose cuando tenemos problemas técnicos dentro del blog.

THE TRANSPARENT BLOUSE

The transparent blouse should never go away

Yesterday I saw one of our followers. She was wearing a beautiful chiffon blouse but she told me that it was too transparent. It wasn’t and it actually made her look thinner.

The transparent blouse made out of chiffon or some other fabrics, give an exquisite look its flawless, flexible and very sophisticated appearance. It gives a soft and classy result to the outfits.  

So today I gathered some blouses from lookbooks like Zara, H&M, Alexander Mcqueen, Cavalli, Mango and Melissa Nepton, who made chiffon and transparent her trademark this 2012. Don’t be afraid to try out transparent blouses. You can use them with a skin color tank top underneath and show your feminine shape in a elegant way. 

Ayer ví a una de nuestras seguidoras y ella andaba una camisa de chiffon súper linda pero ella me comentó que la sentía algo transparente. No lo era y además la hacía ver más delgada. Las blusas transparentes hechas de materiales como el chifon, o algunas otras telas, dan un look exquisito, fluidez y un look super sofisticado, suave y con mucha clase.

Para el post de hoy he hecho una recopilación de diferentes estilos de camisas de lookbooks como Zara, H&M, Alexander Mc Queen, Cavalli, Mango y Melissa Nepton, quien se especializó en chiffon y transparencias este 2012. No temas a las blusas transparentes, las puedes usar con un centro color piel por debajo y mostrar la forma de tu cuerpo en una manera muy elegante.

ROCK THE FLOWERS

H&M JACKET/ ZARA FLORAL PANTS/ STEVE MADDEN ROYAL BLUE HEELS/ CHANEL BAG

It's Friday and on today's post I bring you one of my favorite outfits. I wanted to wear these Zara pants (which you've seen me wear here before) in a completely different manner. So I decided to add a "leather" jacket, and I just loved the result. This jacket adds a rocker style to these otherwise sweet floral pants.  I also added royal blue shoes because I loved the contrast between this bright blue and the blue in the pants. As for accessories, I kept it as simple as possible to avoid over-saturating the look, since the jacket and the shoes attract enough attention.

Ya es viernes y en el post de ahora les traigo un outfit que ha sido de mis favoritos.

Quería usar estos pantalones de Zara (que ya he usado anteriormente aquí) de una forma completamente diferente. Es por eso que se me ocurrió agregarle una chaqueta de "cuero", y el resultado me encantó. Esta chaqueta le da un toque rocker a unos pantalones floreados en tonos de lo más tiernos.  También le agregué zapatos en tono royal blue, ya que me gustó muchísimo como cotrasta el azul fuerte de los zapatos, con el azul un poco más clarito de las flores del pantalón.

En cuanto a los accesorios, usé lo más sencillo posible para no recargar mucho el look, ya que tanto la chaqueta como pantalones y zapatos, son llamativos.
